This is my absolute favorite American chocolate buttercream recipe! This buttercream is rich in flavor, smooth in texture and definitely chocolate without being overly sweet. I always, always use a Dutch-processed cocoa. I highly recommend Rodelle Baking Cocoa as well as their pure vanilla extract for the best taste possible. Rodelle's cocoa powder has enhanced the flavor of my buttercream and has no bitterness in taste. This buttercream recipe makes enough to generously frost a 2 to 3 layer 9" round cake.
